GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
 

Responsible for the coordinated management of multiple complex related survey projects, and in most cases, ongoing operations which are directed toward a common objective.  The Director of Survey has overall responsibility in the following areas:
 

• Business Development
• Client Management
• Professional & Technical Development/Oversight of Survey Team
• Project management
• Financial management
• Build and manage a tight survey program

 

Required Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Responsible for overall fiscal management of the location including revenue growth, profitability, cost containment, etc. including: 
 

• Profit & Loss
• Manage/reduce write-offs
• Manage UBR and A/R
• Monitor utilization for the office and manage unbilled hours
• Track and control overhead costs
• Prepare annual operating budget for the location

 

Business Development and Sales
 

• Develop and maintain client, broker, and vendor contacts to generate new and repeat business.
• Plan and execute development projects
• Procure, plan and execute development opportunities for 3rd parties such as corporate and government clients
• Promote and market survey and the other services and products offered in the office/company.
• Develop proposals for survey projects according to customer specifications.
• Follow-up on proposals to close sale and secure client decision on project.


Survey Management and Development
 

• Administration and coordination
• Project accounting and reporting
• Project management on multiple related projects and operations
• Review and edit of contracts
• Familiar with scope and project objectives
• Familiar with the role and function of each team member
• Assembles project team
• Assigns individual team members key responsibilities
• Identifies project resources needed
• Coordinates activities of the team
• Develops and manages project schedule
• Responsible for all aspects of the project over the life of the project (initiate, plan, execute, control, close)
• Coordinates management of multiple related projects and ongoing operations directed toward a common objective
• Works with constituent project managers to monitor cost, schedule and technical performance of component projects and operations
• Determines and coordinates resources among the constituent projects
• Generates construction documents
• Takes active role in winning projects

COMMUNICATION
 

• Contacts are normally made with others both inside and outside WHPacific and are usually made with other work groups and departments. 
• Interfaces with all internal and external stakeholders affected by the project demands. 
• Contacts may be either by phone or in-person and frequent discussions contacting confidential /sensitive matters necessitating discretion at all times.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY
 

• Responsible for prudent use of assets. 
• Works with and is accountable to internal and external stakeholders.
• Position involves extensive travel, substantial overtime and the availability of being on call and for evening meetings.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 

• Bachelors’ degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ survey experience, with a minimum of 5 years in project management.
• Prefer completion of internal or equivalent project manager program
 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
 

• Louisiana Professional Survey License required
