WHPacific is a full-service, multi-discipline consulting firm with offices throughout the western United States. We provide our clients with experienced and talented teams of landscape architects, civil, structural and industrial engineers, natural and cultural resource specialists, planners, and surveyors.
Projects fall into the broad categories of transportation, commercial development services, environment and water resources, and surveying and mapping.  Office locations are in Portland, Salem, Seattle, Boise, San Diego and Albuquerque. WHPacific has been providing services in Oregon since 1968.

WHPacific is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer with fifteen years or more of professional experience. The preferred candidate will thrive in our environment if they have strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Candidate should want to live and work in Portland area and have an interest in growing our Civil Land Development group. They should have a desire for professional growth working on projects large and small. Candidate should have an affinity for business development and client management. The position requires an interest in working across disciplines with civil, landscape architects, structural and industrial engineers, airport and land use planners, biologists, archaeologists, and land surveyors.
This position presents opportunities to support projects in all areas of Civil Site design and development. These project can range from commercial, residential, industrial, education, parks, land use, transportation, utility infrastructure, stormwater management and private development. These projects are throughout the west coast and mountain west regions.

Required Qualifications

  • Work directly with engineers and project managers to produce designs and drawings per project requirements.
  • Lead design staff and other senior professionals as lead engineer on project tasks.
  • Maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met.
  • Responsible for providing Quality Assurance and Quality Control Reviews within the civil group.
  • Train and mentor young professionals

  • Demonstrated project management for 10+ years.
  • Familiarity with Local, State and Federal Guidelines, Regulations and Standards.

  • BSCE required
  • Oregon PE required; licenses in other states a plus
  • Minimum of 15 years engineering experience required, with a background in Site Design.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience managing tasks, small projects and professional staff.
  • Solid understanding of civil design and construction standards and constraints.
  • Candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License; must be able to meet company insurability requirements.

The Portland WHPacific office is located in west Portland, adjacent to the Sunset Highway and MAX Sunset Transit Center, and less than two hours from the Pacific Ocean, Cascades, and scenic Columbia River Gorge.
